In the Spring of 2010 ArtLab will be working with PlatteForum's Creative Resident, Katie Watson. In collaboration with the Denver Museum of Contemporary Art and the TECO program, during Katie's residency the students will work to create experiential films to be installed at the MCA. For her residency Katie will create a complex interactive site-specific installation for the Idea Box at the MCA, responding to the direct environment of the space and Colorado. Many of Katie's photographic images and scultpural objects are what she calls "instructional". suggesting a new way to see, feel or do. ArtLab's involvement in the program will be as a group that will collectively build and organize a mini-interactive installation incorporating photography, video, sculpture and text. Each facet of the installation will require a new form of viewer participation.
In addition to working with Katie Watson, ArtLab you will work with Judy Anderson, PlatteForum's Founder and Artistic Director. For the second year ArtLab will work together in the creation of a mural for the 2010 People's Fair Mural Competition. The competition is preceded by brain storming sessions and trips to the Denver Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art and several more sites. The students spend time with Judy Anderson and conceptualize the mural after learning design elements and participating in passionate discussions about their generation.
Rajeana, Florence Crittenton High School My name is Rajeana and I have a son named Jy'Air, he's 2 years old. I have a fun outgoing personality. I love to make people laugh. I love to draw and create things. I won two art competitions. One was based off a drug free summer and the other competition was to make a holiday card and it went through Goodwill. I realized in life things go wrong, but I keep in mind that life goes on!
Dayveontay, Contemporary Learning Center Life is not like a box of chocolate because its not full of sweets. My name is Dayveontay and I am a creative person. I am just getting introduced to ArtLab, and I like it. Rapping is my hobby and I am the best. Ever.

When I grow up I want to be David Bowie. I am freuqently mistaken for people's worst nightmare; this is a common misconception. I'm actually worse than your worst nightmares. I'm Chuck Norris's worst nightmare.

Kate, South High School My Name is Kate, but secretly I'm Bubbles, the blonde powerpuff girl. I really enjoy coming to ArtLab and in my spare time I battle the forces of evil. Neato!
Miles, East High School Hello my name is Miles LaGree. I'm chill and easy. I love to act. I love to rap.
Ryan, North High School I get bored and learn how to do neat-o things like play bass and paint pretty pictures. I could credit it to "natural artistic talent" but I really just have no life.
Sal, East High School "You're not alive unless you are living." -Unknown I am a socceraddict (eat, sleep, dream soccer). I'm also a very outgoing and creative person. I like to take long walks on the beach... lol :)
