PlatteForum’s ArtLab Summer Intensive 2010 is in collaboration with Scott Kinnamon and Metropolitan State University Denver. Fifteen ArtLab Interns will work with Lead Artists, Judy Anderson, Scott Kinnamon and Lisa Abendroth, as well as senior student mentors from Metro State’s AIGA Leadership program. The Interns will be under the supervision of Meagan Brncick, Education Director at PlatteForum. Lead Artist Judy Anderson will be creating a mural with ArtLab. Lead Artist, Scott Kinnamon will educate the youth on the filmmaking process and create several films with the students. Lisa Abendroth, Professor and Coordinator of the Design Department at Metro State, will teach ArtLab about the concepts of design and create interactive products through the process. Each Lead Artists’ guidance will be an interconnected purposeful experience with the ArtLab students. They work seamlessly with the 15 interns towards a common goal – create an experience of education and exploration that generates civic leaders in our community.
The students will work out of PlatteForum, the
Denver Film Society as well as on Auraria campus in Denver. Further, Metro State college student
mentors will volunteer to work one-on-one with the ArtLab students through the
graphic design and production process. The students will work out of the design
studio at Metro State with state of the art technology. The filmmaking will culminate with the
premiere, and dissemination of the work in professional format. Films will be published and available
for schools and the general public for integration. The work created with Metro State will take the form of a
“store” that is a site-specific installation for public interaction.
