Susan Meyer, installation artist, will
create an in-process mixed-media installation titled “The
Voyager” in the main gallery and work with youth in
the back gallery to create real and imagined 3D landscapes
with photography and mixed media.

“Mile High Stories”, digital story telling with
Tim Roessler, Hugh Graham and Daniel Weinshenkler.
This artist-team will create personal narratives or mini-documentaries,
lasting 2-3 minutes each, of greater Denver’s residents,
targeting diverse communities. Additionally, the digital
stories created through their workshops with youth will
be looped with their work as a gallery installation and
published through a website.
March
28 – April 23:
Jake Adam York, poet, “A Map of Denver.”
Over the past several months, Jake has been working on a
long poem that records his journeys “through space
and time through the city, creating a mental map collaborating
with writers and students at UCD. He will use his PlatteForum
residency as a “benchmark” for mapping the Platte
River Valley. The goal is to create a personal “map”
over 40 pages long. The conclusion of the residency would
be a “Progressive Reading”– taking place
over a series of locations and ending via a “trail”
at PlatteForum, where visual poems, created by Jake, youth
and the community, will be written and projected on the
walls.
May
1 – June 10:
Vincent Comparetto, will create a sound
installation – digital animation comprised of a “labyrinth”
of hanging speakers with various audio tracks. The speakers
will each be lit by a low wattage light source and hung
at varying heights. Tracks of music and mixed soundscapes
interspersed with audio from recordings with children will
be integrated into the piece. The youths’ work interprets
their dreams through sound and animation.
