PlatteForum Volunteer Committees
Interested in serving on one of our volunteer committees? We have several opportunities available:

Artist Committee: The Artist Committee selects and supports creative residents. The committee evaluates programming and looks for progressive approaches to the creative residency process. Contact Judy Anderson with your interest and resume or CV.

College Access Mentoring Program (C.A.M.P.) Committee: The C.A.M.P. Committee provides support by facilitating mentoring relationships, evaluating admissions processes, and providing a personalized look at each student’s path toward a successful education beyond high school or a GED program. 

Fund Development Committee: Serve as a volunteer in a fundraising capacity. Brainstorm, evaluate campaigns and appeals, and participate in fundraising and events geared toward raising money for our programs.

Internship
PlatteForum can support students interested in undergraduate- or graduate-level internships in nonprofit management, art history, fine arts, youth development, teaching, and other disciplines. Please contact Judy Anderson if you are interested in an internship.

Board of Directors
The board of directors advises, governs, oversees policy and direction, and assists in the leadership and general promotion of PlatteForum in accordance with our mission and needs. If you are interested in learning more about serving on PlatteForum's board please contact Trish Thibodo.




Volunteer and Internship Opportunities 

PlatteForum is a one-of-a-kind art and youth development center that has a variety of opportunities for individual involvement. This is a community-centered place where artists create, collaborate with underserved and at-risk youth, and present their work to the public through exhibitions and performances. We offer several unique programs: Creative Residency, Learning Lab and ArtLab, and numerous opportunities for volunteering. Please see the descriptions below and to the left and complete the application below to start the process of becoming a PlatteForum volunteer.

Exhibition and Opening Support

Help prepare for opening exhibitions. Tasks may include hanging, lighting, installing, painting, prepping, and cleaning. Work may include working with power tools.
Time commitment: The week before openings, flexible days/evening hours available.

Special Event Support

Various roles and needs including marketing, planning and coordination, and donations of food and beverages. Follow us on Facebook and sign up for our newsletter to learn more about our events.
Time commitment: Up to you!

Tutoring

Provide tutoring for ArtLab interns (high-school age students) in math, biology, chemistry, world history, U.S. history, and other subject areas.
Time commitment: To be determined by tutor and student

Learning Labs

Learning Labs are intensive workshops for youth led by creative residents. Volunteers work side by side with youth, support staff set up and clean up, help gather materials, and help youth create work.
Time commitment: 3-6 hours per week. Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to sign up for a few hours per week for the entire Learning Lab running 6-7 weeks at a time.

Mentors for C.A.M.P.

Be a college access/readiness mentor through the College Access Mentoring Program (C.A.M.P.). Mentors are matched with an ArtLab intern and help with essay writing, meeting application deadlines, and more. 
Time commitment: Mentors are trained and asked to commit to two years of involvement with an ArtLab intern. Mentors spend about 6-8 hours per month with mentee and in C.A.M.P. activities.

Donations of Time or Supplies, Administrative Support, and Nonprofit Management

We are in need of and welcome assistance in any of the following areas:
  • Fundraising and Donation assistance: Assist in identifying fundraising opportunities, acquiring in-kind donations, and food/catering donations
  • Donations: Donations of art supplies and equipment for Learning Lab and ArtLab; gift cards to restaurants, stores (Home Depot, Target, King Soopers) to be used to purchase supplies, meals for youth, or use as donation incentives; tickets to plays, sporting events, and concerts to be used as donation incentives; snacks, food, beverages to be used at opening receptions and to provide meals for our youth
  • Administrative: Data entry, office/facility organization
  • Nonprofit management: Assist in developing/evaluating policies and procedures; research; write grants; identify grant opportunities; develop program evaluation strategies; assist in marketing, media and public relations, and volunteer coordination.
