Sandro Del Rosario + ArtLab +
African Community Center

January-February 2008
Simultaneous Visions: The City Rises

Filmmaker Sandro Del Rosario envisioned a Futurist-inspired installation filled with cinematic projections crisscrossing simultaneously in space. Working with youth from ArtLab & African Community Center, they created a dramatic installation of visual artwork and video that captures the mix of urban growth and natural landscape preservation that Denver is courageously undertaking.

Sandro and I got to know each other and I came to trust him as a teacher, mentor and friend”.   Irving

June-July 2006
Experimental Animation

Sandro collaborated with ArtLab interns over the summer in a series of workshops exploring stop-frame techniques in filmmaking. Exploring the concept of “city”, interns considered their personal relationships with the environments they live in to create portraits of cultural identity, memories and place. They then created short films utilizing, video, photographs and manipulated film stills. Through this process they created storyboards, shot their own footage and scored the films with original audio compositions. Each unique film has a running time between 30 second to 1 minute in length.
