Lisa Michot
Lafayette, Colorado
Mixed-media sculptor
February 27 - March 31, 2006
Stories in Action

Lisa Michot will create an installation work incorporating large-scale figures in papier-mache and other mixed-media processes to create an environment consisting of figural groupings. These figures will emphasize movement, theatrics, stage effects, character development, content, interactions, and relationships. By utilizing the PlatteForum studio space and gallery, Lisa will experiment in expanding the scale of her figures into a larger installation, concentrating on creating an entire "stage" for her figures to interact. She will work with ArtLab students to create figurative sculptures in papier-mache supported by wire armatures that they will hand-paint. They will also design and create costumes that are related to the sculptures and wearing them, they will insert themselves into the environment as living sculptures-in-the-round.  Lisa will also work with 1st and 2nd graders at Columbian Elementary to create story boards and small scale papier-mache figures for an exhibition in PlatteForum's back gallery.
