Jake Adam York
March 28 – April 23

Creative Resident Jake Adam York collaborated with students from North High School, East High School and ArtLab (PlatteForum and ArtStreet mentoring program) on his anthology poem “The Map of Denver” during April’s National Poetry Month. Jake, (who is also a professor at the University of Colorado) collaborated with students individually and designed a special set of workshops by matching his advanced poetry college students with high school students to create new poems on the language of maps. They explored the cartographer’s interest in orientation and representation to serve as frameworks for new poems about Denver. The poems were then added to the anthology poem “The Map of Denver,” installed in the gallery at PlatteForum and published online.
